Diamondhead is a multi-stage Distortion + Boost pedal that conveys the tone and feel of a hot–drive tube amp when you press the drive or boost pedal - a guitar sound that defined classic metal of the 70s and 80s and hard rock.

In different genres and generations, the sound of half stack, enhanced by drive and boost, has become the standard for rock music. No genre or era of musicians was more defined by these iconic sounds than the pioneers of classical metal and hard rock of the late seventies and eighties. Remember Judas Priest, RATT, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Ozzy – their combination of tube heads and drive pedals led to the emergence of some of the most iconic guitar timbres of all time.

It all starts with a drive – from raucous and rough sounds with medium gain to screaming harmonics with high gain, Diamondhead is deep and three-dimensional, with clarity and responsiveness to touch.

Three powerful active equalizer controls maximize the potential of the gain section. A well-defined low frequency controller amplifies and reduces the 80 Hz frequency with surgical precision, making the low frequencies huge, but never cloudy. The extended mid-range control range, set right at 800 Hz, allows you to perform massive strikes, a super-aggressive modern attack and everything in between. And the high-frequency controller, set at 6 kHz, adds hissing, sharpness and attack.

The SAT switch (based on our 805 Overdrive) adds 24 dB pre-gain, which amplifies the low frequencies for a more aggressive and clear attack. Smoothly moving from the lows to the highs, it allows you to break through the middle range, creating a chewy, harmonious saturation.

Regardless of the drive section, the amplifier (activated by the left footswitch) provides an available gain from 0 to 15 dB and can be used as an advance gain or to transfer the amplifier to the maximum power. Try using it with a slightly dirty amplifier as the first stage of amplification and add a drive section to produce sounds with maximum amplification.

The Diamondhead also works as a preamp. By connecting it to the effects return system of your tube amplifier or to our PowerStage power amplifiers, you will be rewarded with a first-class high-gain amplifier with a body, bite and character.
