When he came to Dunlop in search of picks that met his high standards, a solution was created in close collaboration that matches and even improves his game.As a starting point, a standard Flow pick, 1 mm thick, was taken. Thrash titan put him through a series of tests and returned with a list of changes he needed to make the pick perfect. First, the Black Fang's mixed-pitched pick edges were added for a super-fast attack that sounds with vivid articulation, ensuring that every note and chord has an impact on the entire speed and gain. Then, it was made slightly thicker (1.14 mm, which is usually not available in the standard Flow line) for a perfect balance between mass and articulation. Finally, the grip surface has been improved."The White Fang has a great grip and doesn't slip when your fingers are sweating from hard play and it has a smaller profile to move faster," says James. "Plus, white picks are easier to see when thrown into the crowd."
