The 81TW humbucker doubles the sound by building on the EMG 81 and adding a separate single coil pickup in the same body. This is not your traditional humbucker. EMG has developed a dual mode for maximum flexibility, with two pickups in one humbucker.
The original EMG 81 delivers all the power and attack it's known for, and the optional single coil now gives players two classic tonal options to choose from. Any mode is accessed via a push/pull potentiometer for ease and versatility. The internal preamp gives the 81TW two different sounds, delivering the well-known EMG noise reduction technology in both modes. Along with a solderless installation, this is a great choice for guitarists who want to get more out of a single pickup.
NOTE. Standard EMG humbuckers are 0.9" thick. The 81TW is 1.1 inches thick. 0.2” difference.
