For years, Dave Mustaine, the legendary charismatic leader of Megadeth, has relied on our passive JB and jazz humbuckers to record some of the most influential riffs in metal history. But like most extreme players, in the end you just want more. Dave and I worked on voicing a set of powerful active humbucker pickups that convey the distinct tonal character of the JB/Jazz combo, but with additional ferocity and amplification.

The Dave Mustaine LiveWire kit is ideal for players who want to try active pickups without radically deviating from the tone of the passive pickups they are used to. The smooth crunch of the JB upper midrange and the distinct warmth and clarity of the jazz neck remain unchanged, while a specially tuned active preamp provides increased power and sensory sensitivity that only an active pickup can provide.

The unique appearance of the passive humbuckers embossed with Daves' signature also ensures that they will look and sound great on any guitar. The package includes containers, mounting hardware, capacitors (for active pickups, a special cap value is required), a battery clip, a stereo output connector and the wires needed to install these high-power humbucker pickups.
