Seymour Duncan '59, aka SH-1, takes your guitar from alligator country to the alleys of the big city. Originally designed to recreate classic P.A.F. tones, this pickup is state of the art with a vintage exhaust. The reimagining of the classics results in an open and detailed sound, with well-defined high end content, making the SH-1 the perfect choice for rock and blues performances. Each '59 pickup has a slightly stronger treble emphasis than a traditional P.A.F., with increased articulation. These humbuckers have a nice, balanced P.A.F.-like response for playing big chords and fat, punchy solos.
The '59 neck is one of Seymour Duncan's most popular pickups, thanks to its unrivaled versatility. The SH-1n, like its bridge brother, is inspired by the original P.A.F. - a humbucker from the 1950s, with sweet sustain and a warm, full sound, but still with a clean attack. Seymour Duncan engineers have made several improvements to modernize the design a bit and make it more adaptable to different styles. The highs are slightly boosted to improve pickup attack clarity, while the mids are slightly rounded for an open, smooth sound that's great for keeping individual notes clear in any chord, even complex ones. The '59 neck was created to complement the '59 bridge model, but countless players pair it with high-output humbucking bridge pickups like the JB or Custom. It is also a popular choice for Telecasters using humbucker routing.
Due to the incredible popularity of this pickup, today Seymour Duncan offers almost any option based on the SH-1: 6-string humbucker, trembucker, 7-string version of the pickup, various color variations. The '59 is packed full of traditional vintage stuff: 42AWG enamelled magnetic wire, long-stemmed nickel-silver bottom plate, vintage braided cable, and more. Four-wire versions of the sensor are also available, with the possibility of splitting the coils. Like all Seymour Duncan pickups in the P.A.F. tradition, the SH-1 is wound on the classic Seymour Leesona 102 from the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In the package with each pickup you will find all the necessary fasteners and materials for quick and comfortable installation of the pickup on the guitar.
