Advanced digital microphone system for acoustic guitar
The iRig Acoustic Stage is a new high-tech solution for accurately reproducing the full sound of acoustic guitars and other instruments with studio-quality sound on stage and in the studio. The combination of its advanced MEMS microphone and high quality preamp and DSP processor provides - for the first time ever - a breakthrough solution that delivers natural high quality sound, added features, easy installation and convenience like you've never seen before.
Until now, getting your acoustic guitar to sound like it does in the studio while playing on stage has been a difficult, if not impossible, task. Performing guitar on stage tends to fall into two scenarios: use the built-in piezo or magnetic transducer to partially reflect the natural warm tone of your acoustic, or sit still on stage with microphones at the "perfect point," severely limiting your ability to move around.
With iRig Acoustic Stage, you no longer have to sacrifice great acoustic tone when performing live. The iRig Acoustic Stage gives you the best of both worlds - the beautiful, rich sound of your acoustic guitar as is, as if it were captured by a microphone in the studio, and the freedom to move around without compromising your sound. Seems impossible?
The iRig Acoustic Stage is a patented revolutionary digital microphone system that makes your guitar sound as if it were captured with a classic studio recording system, giving you a full rich studio-quality sound on stage.
It's both a compact acoustic microphone and an advanced digital preamp and processing unit that recreates a studio microphone setup, giving you all the true character and tonal nuances of your acoustic guitar in live performance situations. Simply clip the iRig Acoustic Stage microphone to a hole on your instrument, connect it to the iRig Acoustic Stage preamp processor, then connect the preamp to your amp or mixer.
The iRig Acoustic Stage also features a "Cancel Feedback" button that gets rid of annoying feedback during a performance.
Once set up and turned on, you can immediately hear WHY you've been losing with traditional on-stage setup as your acoustic tone comes alive with a rich, warm, deep, natural, woody tone. If you currently play electric acoustics, the iRig Acoustic Stage can dramatically improve your guitar's current tone. iRig Acoustic Stage has an AUX input with a mix knob that allows you to mix your guitar's pickup signal with the clean sound of the iRig Acoustic Stage, giving you even more tonal flexibility and a roundness of sound you've never heard before.
Built for the stage and home/project studios
The iRig Acoustic Stage delivers an enhanced acoustic sound that is ideal for live performance and recording.
Getting a "studio" sound in a project or home studio with your acoustic guitar is now easier than ever. If you have an audio interface, simply plug the iRig Acoustic Stage into the analog input. No interface? No problem! iRig Acoustic Stage also has a built-in USB audio output for direct connection to your computer or compatible device.
Not only will you get that fantastic sound, but you'll also be able to move around freely, allowing you to capture the best acoustic performance in your studio.
How it works.
The iRig Acoustic Stage uses a proprietary system composed of a high-tech MEMS microphone and a preamp/processor that includes an advanced digital signal processing component that performs a multitude of functions, from instrument calibration to EQ and feedback cancellation.
The microphone attaches to the resonator hole of your guitar and captures everything out of "the air": the harmonics and sonic nuances of your instrument and playing style that traditional piezo and magnetic pickups simply miss. The interaction between the microphone and the 32-bit DSP-based preamp delivers an amazingly rich, full-spectrum acoustic sound on stage like you've never heard before.
MEMS microphone
The iRig Acoustic Stage uses an ultra-compact MEMS microphone to capture the sound of your acoustic guitar from the resonator hole. It can be quickly attached to the instrument's resonator hole and easily removed without requiring any modifications to the instrument. This allows the iRig Acoustic Stage to be used on any acoustic guitar with steel strings, classical guitar with nylon strings, and even ukuleles and other stringed instruments with a resonator hole.
Acoustic Preamp / Built-in DSP
The magic of the iRig Acoustic Stage comes from the combination of the microphone, preamplifier and signal processing unit. The iRig Acoustic Stage analyzes the incoming signal from your guitar - both the overall sound and the nuances of the instrument and playing technique - and builds an optimal instrument tone profile that delivers a warm, round and balanced acoustic sound.
The tone profile can be enhanced using 6 selectable presets, depending on the playing situation. The iRig Acoustic Stage gives you 3 presets for instruments with steel strings - natural, warm, bright - and the same 3 optimized for instruments with nylon strings.
The iRig Acoustic Stage processor gives you high resolution, 32-bit A/D and D/A audio conversion that accurately reproduces all the nuances, character and acoustic tonal qualities of your guitar's sound - you'll clearly hear the sounds that made you choose this guitar in the first place! Now you can get sound wherever you play.
Custom Calibration
Already out of the box, the iRig Acoustic Stage is calibrated to sound great with most guitars. However, you can also customize and calibrate the iRig Acoustic Stage to optimize the overall DSP response specifically for your instrument, making the tone more authentic and perfectly matched to your guitar. The Custom Calibration feature will only take a few minutes and will further improve your tone and response more accurately for your playing style.
Perfect for electric acoustics
The iRig Acoustic Stage also features an AUX input with volume control (MIX). This input is designed for use with a built-in piezo or magnetic transducer. In situations of unusually loud stages, the AUX input allows the iRig Acoustic Stage to be used in conjunction with a piezo transducer, and mixed with just the right amount of signal from the microphone, avoiding the uncontrollable harsh feedback that can sometimes occur even with Cancel Feedback enabled.
There's also a phase flip switch, allowing you to swap the phase of the microphone/AUX signal to prevent deduction and ensure the best possible sound quality.
Reducing feedback
We've all experienced it and have been horrified when an acoustic is on the verge of feedback, and have been in a panic about what to do next to prevent it. Quickly turn the volume down... immediately move away from the speaker... stand on your left toe facing the sun... anything!
Playing an acoustic guitar live will almost always create some amount of acoustic feedback on stage. Luckily we have the Cancel Feedback function, a handy "easy to reach" button on the side of the preamp/DSP unit that, when pressed, will quickly eliminate annoying frequencies from live sound.
Cancel Feedback is active for both the iRig Acoustic Stage's MEMS microphone and AUX input, giving you the perfect acoustic sound in any environment.
USB digital output for recording
The iRig Acoustic Stage also features a USB-compatible audio output, making it ideal for direct connection to a computer or Plug-and-Play mobile device for recording in any compatible workstation or recording application.
Authentic tone from your acoustics, anywhere
With iRig Acoustic Stage on your favorite acoustic guitar, you finally get that warm, sparkling, and rich acoustic sound while playing on stage or recording in the studio. You'll sound and play at your very best.
A high-tech solution for acoustic sound reproduction
There are many ways to reproduce the sound of your acoustic guitar, but until now, none have been able to combine the quality of a studio microphone with the convenience of a built-in transducer. The iRig Acoustic Stage eliminates this limitation with a breakthrough, cutting-edge product with never-before-seen features, at a price point comparable to the most affordable solutions on the market. Read below about the differences between all existing systems, and why the iRig Acoustic Stage is better than them all.
