Dave Mustaine's signature passive humbucker pickup with high-performance Thrash Factor recreates the unique timbre of Dave's beloved JB, which was used to record some of his most iconic albums.
In 1990, Megadeth released their landmark fourth album, Rust In Peace. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic and influential metal albums of all time, its dizzying rhythms, intricate arrangements, shifting timelines and sparkling double guitar parts demonstrated the band's mastery of their craft.
During the recording of the album, Dave relied heavily, in particular, on one guitar, which was equipped with a Seymour Duncan JB bridge and a Model 59 neck. According to Dave, this JB had a timbre that was different from the "ready-made" JB - and became part of his signature sound.
We worked closely with Dave to recreate the timbre and feel of his beloved JB, eventually changing the winding process to achieve the tone he was looking for – compared to the standard JB model, the low frequencies of the Thrash Factor are denser, the midrange is slightly skewed, and the highs are more aggressive.
The kit includes Dave's favorite neck pickup, model SH-1n 59, with a matte finish to match. Dave Mustaine's signature passive humbucker pickup with high performance Thrash Factor is handmade in Santa Barbara, California.
Our team of craftsmen is proud to develop our products to create the most amazing sound possible.
