In 1968, Jimi Hendrix played a Strat equipped with Seymour hand-wound pickups. Fifty years later, Seymour Duncan is proud to share a piece of this story with you.
On March 28, 1968, Jimi Hendrix asked a young Seymour Duncan to give him a guitar on stage during an Experience concert at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Strat was loaded with pickups that Seymour had hand-wound specifically for Jimi. Now you can get a little closer to Jimi's world with the classic Jimi HendrixSignature pickups for Strat.
Like Jimi's music, Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat brand pickups are rooted in tradition, but at the same time they are aimed at the future. Each pickup is individually wound for a richer, more melodic tone. The bridge pickup has an aggressive attack that penetrates through and through, remaining true to Jimi's iconic leading timbre. The pickup for the low and middle positions sounds thick and full and is great for chord work, blues melodies, double stops and Jimi's signature hybrid style. The original Strat kit, which was created for Jimi in 1968, did not have a medium-sized RWRP pickup. Therefore, as in the originals, the average pickup of these exact recreations also does not have reverse polarity and winding direction (RWRP).
To help you get even closer to Jimi's amazing sound, each pickup is made with reverse magnets to convey the effect of playing a right-handed guitar turned upside down and rearranged for a left-handed person. Jimi's signature is emblazoned on the white lids of the pickups.
The pickups are hand-assembled in California. The team of craftsmen is proud to create Seymour Duncan products to produce the most amazing sound possible.
